Sept. 3, 2024 – The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) announced today that William Abrams, Executive Vice President of Distribution for Medline Industries, LP, is the recipient of the 2024 John F. Sasen Leadership Award. The Sasen Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, commitment, and service to the healthcare products distribution industry and HIDA.
“HIDA and the HIDA Educational Foundation have both benefited greatly from William’s all-in, fully committed approach to leadership,” said HIDA President & CEO Matthew J. Rowan. “From education to contracting to data and many other HIDA programs, William has been instrumental in sharpening the value HIDA provides to the industry.”
Abrams has served for 14 years on the HEF Board of Directors and for nine years on the HIDA Board of Directors. One of the founding members of HIDA’s Pricing Accuracy Steering Committee, he has served as a strong advocate for contract administration standards and other supply chain best practices.
Abrams currently serves as Medline’s Executive Vice President of Distribution. In this role, he oversees vendor relations, contracts and rebate management, and the daily operations of Medline’s third-party distributed products. In 2010, Abrams became President of Medline’s Distributed Products Division and was promoted to his current position in 2023. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
